As part of the 29th Edition of FESPACO taking place from 22 February to 1rst March 2025, the Management would like to inform professionals of the film and audio-visual industry that registration for the official selection of films is open from 29 February 2024 till 30 September 2024.
The official selection includes two main sections:
- The official competition section reserved for films by African and Diaspora directors. This section is comprised of the following categories:
- Feature films with minimum length of 60mn;
- Feature documentary films with minimum length of 60mn;
- FESPACO Shorts (short fiction and documentary films) with length between 1mn and 35mn;
- Fiction or documentary film from Cinema Schools with length between 3mn and 15mn;
- FESPACO Series: two (02) consecutive episodes of 52mn each or three (03) consecutive episodes of 26mn each or six (06) consecutive episodes of 13mn each;
- Animated films with length between 1mn and 35mn
- The out-of-competition section open to films by filmmakers from around the world. This section includes:
- Panorama
- Focus Diversities
- Sukabè (Youth Programme)
Criteria for film eligibility
- Not be aged more than two (02) years as of 31 December 2024;
- Not have showed at a previous edition of FESPACO;
- Not have been screened in Burkina Faso.

Registration is subject to payment of a fee amounting to Euro fifty (50).
NB: Deadline for registration is 30 September 2024.
