Yennenga Post-Production is a platform that promotes co-production partnerships and access to the international market for African works by offering an opportunity to showcase films still in production to industry professionals and international distributors in order to support the completion of such works through tangible assistance.

Article 1: This Regulation aims to define the organizational, operational and participation conditions for the Yennenga Post-Production Workshop.

Article 2:  The Yennenga Post-production workshop will be hosted from 28 February to 05 March 2027.

Article 3: Admission to the Yennenga Post-production workshop implies full adherence to this Regulation.

Article 4: Film eligibility conditions:

  • Only films in finishing stage made exclusively by filmmakers who are nationals of an African country will be considered;
  • Only feature fiction or documentary films (minimum length of 60 minutes) will be considered;
  • Filmmakers must be on their debut or second feature film project;
  • A director can only participate in the Yennenga Post-production workshop with one project;
  • A producer can only participate in the Yennenga Post-production workshop with a maximum of two projects;
  • A letter of agreement must be signed between director and production company;
  • When the film is in a language other than French or English, the submission copy shall be sub-titled in one of these languages.

Article 5: Application package

Applications for the Yennenga Post-production programme shall include:

  • A synopsis (maximum 400 characters);
  • A statement of intent of director;
  • A statement of intent of producer;
  • A bio-filmography of director;
  • A photo (JPEG 300 dpi) of director;
  • A bio-filmography of producer;
  • Pictures and visuals of film;
  • Name and address of production company;
  • A cover letter of director and producer specifying post-production needs and expectations;
  • Total budget of the film specifying the amount to be raised to complete the film;
  • Viewing link and access password valid until 31 March 2027.

Article 6: A committee chaired by the Director General of the Burkinabe Film and Audio-visual Agency (ABCA) shall be responsible for the selection of films. Decisions by the committee shall be final and irrevocable.

The selection committee shall reserve the right to select or not any post-production project or film submitted.

Results of the selection will be published on the websites of ABCA and FESPACO.

Article 7:  The Yennenga Post-production programme undertakes to:

 – Cover the transport, accommodation and catering costs for successful applicants during their stay in Ouagadougou;

– Provide targeted and customized support to each of the films.

Article 8: Successful applicants will receive a commitment form to be completed and returned. Receipt by FESPACO of the completed and signed form implies acceptance to be present and available for all programme activities. Acceptance shall be considered final and binding.

Article 9: Representatives of the films invited must send in a timely manner all the information and material required for the production of the Yennenga Post-production workshop brochure and for the organization of consultations and screenings.

Article 10: Yennenga Post-Production Workshop Prizes

Yennenga post-production workshop winning films will receive prizes in kind or cash to complete their projects.

The amount and type of support is determined according to the level of support of each partner.

Article 11: Awarded films must include in their credits and on any communication material the official logo of FESPACO with the words “This film has received the support of FESPACO/Yennenga Postproduction”.

Films selected but not awarded must include in their credits and on any communication material the official logo of FESPACO with the words “This film has participated in the FESPACO/ Yennenga Post-production workshop”.

Article 12: As per their needs, post-production film project leaders may benefit from consultation on editing, advice and guidance on the choice of costumes and film finishing, as well as advice on international distribution.

Article 13: Screening sessions of excerpts of selected films will be organized.

After such screening excerpts, time will be allocated to the directors to showcase their projects before a jury.

Only accredited professionals will be allowed to see the screenings.

Article 14: The jury is made up of professionals from the film industry and the cultural sector with established experience and skills. The jury shall be sovereign in its decisions.

Article 15: Participation in the Yennenga Post-production programme implies adherence to this Regulation.

Article 16: The Director General of ABCA shall be competent for any dispute over the interpretation and application of the provisions of this Regulation.

Amicable settlement shall be favoured in the event of any dispute.

Article 17: Only the French version of this Regulation shall be authentic.

Article 18: Cases not provided for by this Regulation shall fall within the competence of the Director General of ABCA.
