REGULATION YENNENGA CO-PRODUCTION WORKSHOP – FESPACO 2027

Yennenga Co-production is a platform for feature fiction and documentary film projects seeking financial partners.

It aims to stimulate and support African and Diaspora film co-productions, promote their international distribution and foster the development of film talents in Africa.

Article 1: This Regulation aims to define the organizational, operational and participation conditions for the Yennenga Co-Production Workshop.

Article 2:  The Yennenga Co-production programme will be hosted from 28 February to 05 March 2027.

Article 3: Admission to the Yennenga Co-production programme implies full adherence to this Regulation.

Article 4: Project eligibility conditions:

  • Only feature fiction and documentary film projects in production stage will be considered;
  • Project must be led by an author/director and/or producer from an African country or Diaspora;
  • Shooting of the project must not have started.

Article 5: Application package

Applications for the Yennenga Co-production workshop shall include:

  • A logline;
  • A short synopsis (maximum 400 characters);
  • A longer synopsis (1-page maximum);
  • A treatment (10 to 15 pages);
  • A script of the project;
  • A photo (JPEG 300 dpi) of director;
  • Pictures and a visual of the film (in portrait and landscape, JPEG 300 dpi format);
  • A statement of intent of director;
  • A bio-filmography of director;
  • A bio-filmography of producer;
  • A letter of agreement between director and production company;
  • A presentation note of production company;
  • A statement of intent of producer;
  • A cover letter specifying producer’s needs and expectations;

A provisional budget of the film;

  • A financing plan of the film.

Deadline for applications is 25 September 2026 at 23h 59mn on the platform by clicking here.

N.B.: Only complete applications will be considered by the selection committee.

Article 6: A committee chaired by the Director General of the Burkinabe Film and Audio-visual Agency (ABCA) shall be responsible for the selection of projects. Decisions by the committee shall be final and irrevocable.

The selection committee shall be sovereign and shall reserve the right not to substantiate its decisions.

Results of the selection committee will be published on the websites of ABCA and FESPACO.

Article 7: Selection for the Yennenga Co-production workshop gives right to:

  • National and international transport for producer or director from their place of residence to Ouagadougou;
  • Accommodation and meals while in Ouagadougou;
  • Accreditation of director or producer at FESPACO;
  • Participation of director or producer in the activities under the Yennenga Co-production programme.

Article 8: Participation in the Yennenga Co-production programme implies full adherence to this Regulation.

Article 9: Successful projects must:

  • Include the worlds “This film has received the support of FESPACO/Yennenga Co-production” in their credits together with the official logo of the Yennenga Co-production programme;
  •  Have the official logo of FESPACO on any communication material;
  • Leave a copy of the film with FESPACO.

Article 10: Yennenga Co-Production Workshop Prizes

Yennenga Co-production winning projects will receive prizes in kind or cash to complete their projects.

The amount and type of support is determined according to the level of support of each partner.

Article 11: The Director General of ABCA shall be competent for any dispute over the interpretation and application of the provisions of this Regulation.

Amicable settlement shall be favoured in the event of any dispute.

Article 12: Only the French version of this Regulation shall be authentic.

Article 13: Cases not provided for by this Regulation shall fall within the competence of the Director General of ABCA.
