Synopsis
It’s October, raining season in Fouta, a remote region in Northern Senegal. Astel (13 years old) goes in the bush with her father every day. Together they tend to their herd to cattle. One day, in the middle of the desert, the young girl meets the shepherd, upsetting the peaceful relations between Astel and her father.
Biography
After a completing a Master 1 in Performing Arts in Cinema and Audio-visual at Paris Nanterre University and a Master 2 in Script at Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français, Ramata-Toulaye Sy attended Ateliers Egalité des Chances at Fémis in 2009-2010. Accepted in the 2011 Fémis competition in the Script Department, she graduated in 2015. In 2020, she made her debut short film Astel, supported by CNC’s Support prior to production, France 3, Canal+ International and FOPICA in Senegal.
