Demba Konaté, Senegal/France, 2023
SYNOPSIS:
Daouda, a father from Senegal living in France, is preparing for a meeting between his family and that of Mariama, the fiancée of his eldest son, Malik. During the gathering, Daouda discovers that while his family belongs to the griot caste, Mariama’s family is of noble caste. 
BIOFILMOGRAPHY:
Demba Konaté is a self-taught director who graduated with a Master’s degree in Political Science. In 2014, he began exploring filmmaking during the Génération Court festival in Aubervilliers. The following year, he was selected for a residency at the Côté-Court festival and Cinémas 93: Cinéastes en Seine-Saint-Denis, where he developed his first short film, Nous les griots. The film premiered in 2023 at the Vues d’Afrique festival in Montreal.
