SYNOPSIS
Coming from the outskirts of Salvador, Mayara embarks on a surprising and compelling journey through the roads of Bahia, to retrace the steps of Maria Odília Teixeira, granddaughter of a former slave, who became the first black doctor in Brazil. Through her eyes, we are gasped by each new discovery about the story of this brilliant young woman who lived a century ago.

Mariana Jaspe made her film debut with the short film “CARNE”, released in 2018, selected for more than 30 festivals around the world. In 2023, she released “DEIXA”, starring Zezé Motta, for which won the Kikito for Best Director at the Gramado Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Vitória, Panorama de Cinema and Havana Festival festivals. Collaborated with Anna Muylaert on the script for the film “The Best Mother in the World”, which is still unreleased. She is the writer and director of the documentary series “Flordelis: Questiona ou Adora” and the writer of the series “Resistência Negra”. Specialist in Cinema, Television and Interactive Media from the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid and Film Direction.
