SANA NA N’HADA, Guinea-Bissau, 2023

SYNOPSIS
Guinea-Bissau, 1969. A violent war rages between the Portuguese colonial army and the guerrillas of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde. NOME leaves his village to join the resistance in the maquis. Years later, he returns as a hero. However, the euphoria soon gives way to bitterness and cynicism.

BIOFILMOGRAPHY
Guinea-Bissauan filmmaker Sana Na N’Hada studied at the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Arts and Industry. His cinema reflects a constant interplay between the memory of Portuguese occupation, the struggles for independence, and a meditation on the destruction of traditional societies. His film Xime was presented in the Official Selection of Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994.
