Ousmane William Mbaye, Senegal, 2024
SYNOPSIS
Ndar, the original name of Saint Louis, a small island on the Senegal River, was the stronghold of colonial penetration in West Africa four centuries ago. An economic, cultural, and political crossroads, it served as a laboratory for the “civilizing mission.” Residents of Saint Louis and historians recount a rich and complex saga of the Waalo.
