SYNOPSIS:
Through archival sounds and contemporary images, “Khamsinette” explores the memory of southern Algeria. Guided by captivating narratives, the director weaves a link between past and present life in Timimoun, revealing a timeless story and the resilience of a culture facing oblivion. A visual and auditory journey paying tribute to the enduring echoes of a community.
BIOFILMOGRAPHY:
Assia Khemici is a director and sound engineer trained at the Institut National d’Audiovisuel in Ouled Fayet, Algeria. In 2020 and 2021, she participated in the Algiers Documentary Creation Laboratories, as well as in a sound creation workshop. She contributed to the making of several films, including La voix de ma mère by Mourad Hamla (2021) and 7000 Tours/min by Daouya Feriel Achir (2020)
