SYNOPSIS:
In the mid-1970s, Rico, a 9-year-old Haitian boy, is abruptly torn from his homeland and thrust, along with his mother Erzulie, onto a strange new planet called Canada. Since their arrival, a distance has grown between mother and son. To win back his mother’s love, Rico must navigate this unfamiliar world, populated by people with strange customs and traditions.

BIOFILMOGRAPHY:
Henri Pardo is a Quebecois filmmaker of Haitian origin. A graduate of INIS, he is the founder of Black on Black Films. In 2019 and 2021, he directed the documentary series Black Wealth Matters and Afro-Prospérité, the latter produced by Black Wealth Media, a company he founded in 2016. In 2020-2021, he directed Dear Jackie, a documentary that won awards at the 2021 RIDM (Montreal International Documentary Festival).
