SYNOPSIS:
Ija Ominira is the cinematic adaptation of a novel by Faleti. It tells the story of a tyrannical and cruel king, whose oppressed and exhausted people rise in rebellion and ultimately overthrow him.

Ola Balogun, born in 1945 in Aba, Nigeria, is a filmmaker and screenwriter. He has directed several films, including:
• A Deusa Negra (1979),
• Ija Ominira (1979),
• Cry Freedom! (1981).
Balogun is considered a pioneer of Nigerian cinema, known for his contributions to the development of African storytelling through film.
