SYNOPSIS
The pain of the ritual of female genital mutilation drives a young girl to flee her village. Her escape enrages Bakosso, the village chief, who seeks to punish her, but her mother fiercely opposes him. This confrontation reopens old wounds suffered by Mariamou, Souraya, and Zeinabou, who decide to fight against this degrading practice inflicted on women.
BIOFILMOGRAPHY
Anurin Nwunembom is a Cameroonian filmmaker. After university studies in theater, he transitioned into cinema. As an actor, he has appeared in Ninah’s Dowry (2012) by Victor Viyuoh, Walls (2014) by Narcisse Wandji, and Enterer (2022) by Françoise Ellong. He later directed Nightfall (2015), Broken (2019), Chariots of the Gods (2021), Kikum Spirit (2022), Mosoroki, and Tales of Rape (2023).
