The Director General of the Burkinabe Film and Audio-visual Agency (ABCA) would like to inform Partners/Donors of the launch of the call for subscriptions to the Special Prizes of the 30th Edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), taking place from 20 to 27 March 2027 in Ouagadougou.
Special prizes provide a framework for partnership between FESPACO and donors wishing to support, promote and showcase cinema from Africa and Diaspora.
- PURPOSE OF THE SPECIAL PRIZES
Special prizes have been introduced to reward African films in the Official selection as well as those in the Panorama section. They provide an opportunity for any donor to express their vision and values through a specific award adjudicated according to freely set criteria, in compliance with the Special Prizes Regulation.
- CATEGORIES OF ELIGIBLE DONORS
Any legal entity within one of the following categories can subscribe to a special prize:
First category:
Parliaments, sub-Regional, Regional or Continental organizations, International agencies, UN specialized agencies, NGOs, local governments.
Second category:
States and/or diplomatic missions.
Third category:
Private companies or assimilated, State-owned companies, private organizations.
Forth category:
Associations, mutual societies, professional or faith-based organizations.
The Director General of ABCA shall reserve the right to accept or not any subscription.
- FINANCIAL CONDITIONS OF SUBSCRIPTION
Subscription fee and monetary value of special prizes are set as follows:
First category:
- Subscription fee: CFA 5,000,000;
- Prize value: CFA 7,000,000 to 15,000,000.
Second category:
- Subscription fee: CFA 4,000,000;
- Prize value: CFA 7,000,000 to 15,000,000.
Third category:
- Subscription fee: CFA 3,000,000
- Prize value: CFA 5,000,000 to 15,000,000.
Forth category:
- Subscription fee: CFA 2,000,000
- Prize value: CFA 2,000,000 to 15,000,000.
Prizes can be in cash and/or kind.
The amounts can be settled in CFA Francs or equivalent in Euros or USD.
- SUBSCRIPTION AND PAYMENTS ARRANGEMENTS
Any donor wishing to subscribe to a special prize shall:
- Pay the subscription fee to the Chief Cash and Securities Accountant of ABCA or by bank transfer using the official details provided
- Complete and return the subscription form with details of:
- Prize title
- Objectives pursued
- Adjudication criteria
- Exact prize value
- Donor’s logo (in PNG and JPEG, 300 dpi formats).
The call for subscriptions to the special prizes is open until 31 January 2027.
Deadline for submission of subscription forms is 31 January 2027.
Bank transfer charges shall be borne by the donor.
Copy of transfer receipt or notice shall be sent to the Special Prizes Commission.
- SPECIAL PRIZES JURY
Every donor has the right to form a jury of five (05) members composed of:
- Four (04) members appointed by the donor;
- A (01) member appointed by the Director General of ABCA.
Deadline for submission of list of jury members’ names and CV is 20 February 2027.
Expenses of jury members shall be borne entirely by the donor.
- SUBMISSION OF PRIZES AND ANNOUNCEMENT
Prizes (cash and/or kind) and trophies must be deposited by 10 March 2027 the latest with the Management of ABCA.
Only donors who have fully complied with the financial and administrative conditions will have their prize announced in the official list of Special Prizes of FESPACO 2027.
