REGULATION OF THE AFRICAN INETRNATIONAL FILM AND AUDIO-VISUAL MARKET (MICA) – FESPACO 2027

MICA is organized as part of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).

MICA is platform for meeting, promotion and exchange open to film and audio-visual works and industry professionals as well from around the world.

Article 1: This Regulation aims to define the organizational, operational and participation conditions in the Market. 

Article 2: The 23^rd Edition of the African International Film and Audio-visual Market (MICA) will take place from 28 February to 05 March 2027.

Article 3: MICA is structured around the following activities:

• Registration into the FESPACO PRO/MICA catalogue;
• On-demand screening sessions;
• Exhibitions at the MICA Pavilion.

Participation in MICA implies full adherence to this Regulation.

Article 4: Deadline for registration of films and companies in the FESPACO PRO/MICA catalogue and for stand rental is 31 December 2026 the latest at 23h 59mn on the platform by clicking here.

Registration materials (in French and English) shall include:

• FOR FILMS
• A technical and artistic data sheet;
• A synopsis (maximum 400 characters);
• A bio-filmography of director (maximum 400 characters);
• Two posters of the film in portrait and landscape, JPEG 300 dpi format;
• A download and viewing link of the film or episodes for TV series, MPEG-4 (H.264) format, valid until 31 March 2027;
• A photo (JPEG 300 dpi) of director;
• Three pictures of the film (in portrait and landscape, JPEG 300 dpi format).
• FOR COMPANIES
• Presentation note of the company;
• Logo (PNG and JPEG 300 dpi format);
• Full address (WhatsApp contact, phone numbers, Email, website, …).

Registration fee for films and companies into the FESPACO PRO/MICA catalogue is CFA 32,798 or Euro 50 or equivalent in USD per film or company.

This amount is not refundable.

Article 5: Deadline for registration of films for on-demand screening is 15 February 2027 the latest on the platform by clicking here.

Materials (in French and English) required for registration of films for on-demand screening shall include:

• A technical and artistic data sheet;
• A synopsis (maximum 400 characters);
• A bio-filmography of director (maximum 400 characters);
• Two posters of the film in portrait and landscape, JPEG 300 dpi format;
• A download and viewing link of the film or episodes for TV series, MPEG-4 (H.264) format, valid until 31 March 2027, or a copy of the film on USB drive or external hard drive.

Screening fee for films is CFA 32,798 or Euro 50 or equivalent in USD per hour.

Any hour started is due. This amount is not refundable and shall be paid in advance.

Article 6: Registration deadline for the MICA Pavilion is 15 January 2027 the latest online by clicking here.

Only companies, institutions and associations active in the film and audio-visual sector can register for the MICA Pavilion.

Rental costs for a standard 09 m² stand is CFA Five hundred thousand (500,000) or Euro Seven hundred sixty-three (763) or equivalent in USD.

However, the maximum stand area that can be given out per organization is 36 m² or 04 stands.

In the latter case, transfer costs shall be borne by the applicant. A copy of the transfer receipt shall be sent to the Head of FESPCAO PRO/MICA Commission.

Article 7: Registration into FESPACO PRO/MICA gives right to visibility on FESPACO PRO/MICA communication materials.

Article 8: Sending and return of film copies shall be the responsibility of director, producer or distributor.

Parcels must be marked “For cultural use only” and “With no commercial value”.

Transport costs and possible custom duties for parcels sent by express service must have been entirely paid for. Otherwise, FESPACO shall reserve the right to reject such parcels.

FESPACO shall not assume responsibility for shipping mistakes or damages resulting from the transport of film copies.

It shall not be responsible for deteriorations due to initial poor condition of copies.

Article 9: Renting a stand at the MICA Pavilion gives you access to the power grid, two (02) Professional badges, a (01) table and two (02) chairs, internet connection, access to the B2B lounge and other amenities.

Additional badges shall be the responsibility of stand tenant and shall be paid with Chief Cash and Securities Accountant of ABCA.

Article 10: Access to FESPACO PRO/MICA is upon presentation of the badge.

Article 11: The Director General of ABCA shall be competent for any dispute over the interpretation and application of the provisions of this Regulation.

Amicable settlement shall be favoured in the event of a dispute.

Article 12: Only the French version of this Regulation shall be authentic.

Article 13: Cases not provided for by this Regulation shall fall within the competence of the Director General of ABCA.
